GM versus EGPT (Egypt ETF)

General Motors CompanyNYSE

詳細

This is more of an entertaining chart comparison than anything but it does have a lesson in it. Isn't it strange how many markets just end up acting the same even though there is no reason for it? That's the beauty of raw data - we can find patterns in it that really aren't there. Causal or correlation is often the question but clearly there is no connection to these two items. Perhaps just "risk-on, risk-off" discussion that I frankly find inaccurate. What this shows is that our tax-laws more likely than not help to drive investor behavior, encouraging people to take losses going into year end. More likely than not then this rally may be more explainable by a great January-effect. Cheers. Tim

How crazy is it that these two charts keep moving together!!

This is still tracking! Except GM is lagging, so this is set-up for a trade. Long GM, short Egypt. Has anyone also looked at my other strange pair? Alcoa (AA) vs China (FXI)
