Earthquake Effect by DGT

18 303
Institutional investors have a profound impact on financial instruments prices because of the large volume, and their trading activities can greatly impact the price of financial instruments. They sometimes may split trades over time in order to not make a material impact and of course not to decrease liquidity to the point where there may be no one to take the other side of the trade.
Institutional investors (Smart Money) may create an Elephant Effect on the prices of financial instruments, and this study aims to display by emphasizing high volume changes

In the memory of the North Anatolian Earthquake that struck on August 17, 1999, that we remember with pain today, and similarities of plotting outcomes to seismograph plotting I preferred to name this study as Earthquake Effect (SEISMOGRAPH)

⯌ Earthquake Effect v6 Update
This release brings a complete modernization of the Earthquake Effect indicator to Pine Script v6, ensuring full compatibility with the latest TradingView engine and improved visualization of market shocks.

Key features include:

Directional Shock Visualization
Volume-weighted directional shocks now plot clearly above equilibrium, highlighting sudden market movements.

Enhanced Participation Zones
Upper and lower EMA-based participation bounds with subtle gradient fills provide an intuitive reference for normal market activity.

Spike Detection and Shock Candles Overlay
Long and short volume spikes are automatically identified using a 1.618 multiplier for sharper recognition of extreme market moves.
Significant shocks are displayed as overlay candles with color-coded wicks and borders for immediate visual impact.

Improved Tooltip & Branding
The new bottom-right logo table includes tooltip details, keeping attribution clear while unobtrusive.

This update refines the mental model of market shocks, makes extreme activity easier to spot, and fully leverages Pine v6 capabilities while keeping the spirit of the original study intact.
