Gaucho VCP

VCP Breakout Scanner

Detects Volatility Contraction Patterns (VCP) based on Mark Minervini's SEPA methodology from Trade Like a Stock Market Wizard.

What is a VCP?

A VCP forms when a stock in an uptrend pauses and builds a base where each successive pullback is SHALLOWER than the previous one. This volatility contraction signals that sellers are exhausted and the stock is being accumulated by institutions. When price breaks the pivot on volume, it often leads to a significant move.

How it works:

The indicator scans for:
- Prior uptrend (EMAs stacked: 8 > 21 > 50, all rising)
- Base formation: 10-60 days of sideways consolidation
- Total depth < 25% from high to low
- Contracting pullbacks verified (T-count displayed)
- Price near highs (within 12% of pivot)
- Volume drying up during base

Visual elements:
- Blue box: consolidation base
- Green line: pivot (buy point)
- Red dashed line: stop level (on breakout days)
- A/B/C/D labels: swing points with pullback percentages on lows
- Status label: tier, depth, pivot, volume, VCP validation, pullback sequence

Tier system:
- FORMING: Base building, not yet actionable
- PRIMED: Base complete, price within 5% of pivot
- BREAKING: Price taking the pivot today

Alerts:
- VCP BREAKING: Valid VCP with confirmed contraction taking pivot
- VCP PRIMED: Valid VCP ready for breakout
- BREAKING: Breakout without VCP validation
- PRIMED: Near pivot without VCP validation

Best used on DAILY timeframe. Combine with volume analysis and market regime.
