A clean, on-chart table that shows Today’s Volume, Average Daily Volume, and Relative Volume (RVol) at a glance.
This indicator is designed for quick decision-making: you can instantly see whether today’s trading activity is above or below “normal” for the symbol.
What it shows
- Vol — Today’s daily volume (regular session)
- Avg — Average daily volume over your selected lookback
- RVol — Relative Volume as a percentage: (Today Vol ÷ Avg Vol) × 100
How RVol is calculated
- The script requests 1D volume using the symbol’s regular session.
- Average volume is calculated with an SMA using previous daily bars (volume[1]) over your chosen length.
- RVol is then shown as a % and rounded for readability.
Color logic (RVol)
The RVol row uses a simple “high / normal / low” highlight:
- ≥ 130% → Green (high activity)
- ≥ 100% and < 130% → Orange (around/above average)
- < 100% → Red (below average)
Examples of Low & High Relative Volume
Display modes
- Full Table (default): a 2-column, 3-row table with separate rows for Vol / Avg / RVol
- Compact (Phone): a single-row layout that fits better on mobile and smaller screens
Inputs
Volume Settings
- Avg Length — Lookback period used to compute average daily volume (default: 21)
Table Display
- Text Size — Tiny → Huge
- Vert / Horiz — Move the table to any corner/edge area (top/middle/bottom + left/center/right)
- Compact (Phone) — Switches to the 1-row compact layout
- BG Opacity % — Adjusts table background transparency
- Border — Border thickness (1–3)
Notes & Tips
- RVol is easiest to interpret on intraday charts when you want to see whether today is “unusually active” compared to recent daily history.
- Because the average uses volume[1], it avoids mixing in the current day’s still-forming daily bar in the average calculation.
- Values are formatted for readability (e.g., 12500 → 12.5k, 2300000 → 2.3M).
