Because patterns and momentum signals perform differently in trending vs. ranging markets, ADX is used here as a filter: only when ADX indicates sufficient directional strength does the system treat RSI+BB breakouts as meaningful trade candidates.
Bollinger Bands — role and behavior: Bollinger Bands (20-period basis ± N standard deviations) show volatility envelope and relative price position vs. a volatility-adjusted mean. Price outside the upper band suggests pronounced extension relative to recent volatility; price outside the lower band suggests extended weakness. A band expansion (increasing width) signals volatility breakout potential; contraction signals range-bound conditions and potential squeeze. In this dashboard, Bollinger Bands provide the volatility/structural context: RSI extremes plus price beyond the band imply a stronger, volatility-backed move.
Volume split & basic MA trend — role and behavior: Buy-like and sell-like volume (simple heuristic using close>open or closeopen) or sell-like (close1.2 for validation and compare win rate and expectancy.
4. TF alignment: Accept signals only when higher timeframe (e.g., 4h) trend agrees — compare results.
5. Parameter sensitivity: Vary RSI threshold (70/30 vs 80/20), Bollinger stddev (2 vs 2.5), and ADX threshold (25 vs 30) and measure stability of results.
These exercises teach both statistical thinking and the specific failure modes of the mashup.

For convenience, my website allows users to interact with a bot that will generate the string for up to 30 tickers at once getting nearly real-time data on demand (data is cached for 15min). With the output string pasted into this indicator, it's a bliss to shuffle through your portfolio and see those levels for each ticker.
The script is open-source under TradingView's terms, allowing users to study, modify, and improve it. It draws inspiration from common options-derived metrics like gamma exposure and vanna, which are widely discussed in financial literature. No external code is copied without rights; all logic is original or based on standard mathematical formulas.
How the Options Levels Are Calculated
The levels displayed by this script are not computed within Pine Script itself—instead, they rely on pre-calculated values provided by the user (via a pasted data string). These values are derived from options chain data fetched from financial APIs (e.g., using libraries like yfinance in Python). Here's a step-by-step overview of how these levels are generally calculated externally before being input into the script:
Fetching Options Data:
Historical and current options chain data for a ticker (e.g., strikes, open interest, volume, implied volatility, expirations) is retrieved for near-term expirations (e.g., up to 90 days).
Current stock price is obtained from recent history.
Gamma Support (Put Wall) and Resistance (Call Wall):
Gamma Calculation: For each option, gamma (the rate of change of delta) is computed using the Black-Scholes formula:
gamma = N'(d1) / (S * sigma * sqrt(T))
where S is the stock price, K is the strike, T is time to expiration (in years), sigma is implied volatility, r is the risk-free rate (e.g., 0.0445), and N'(d1) is the normal probability density function.
Weighted gamma is multiplied by open interest and aggregated by strike.
The Put Wall is the strike below the current price with the highest weighted gamma from puts (acting as support).

TradingView's Pine Script is sandboxed for security and performance:
No direct internet access or API calls (e.g., can't fetch yfinance data in-script).

The script finds the highest high over Lookback Bars , calls it “recent high,” then calculates:
dip% = (recent_high − close) ÷ recent_high × 100.
If dip% is larger than Dip % , condition one passes.
Volume confirmation
It computes a simple moving average of volume over Vol Lookback . If current volume ÷ average volume > Vol Spike , we have a participation spike. It also checks 5-bar ROC of volume. If ROC > 50 the spike is forceful. This gets an extra score point.
Volatility confirmation
Two independent checks:
• Standard deviation of closes vs its own average.
• True range vs ATR.
If either expands beyond Vol Spike (volatility) the move has range. This prevents false triggers from quiet drifts.
Short-term structure
Price should close below the Fast EMA and the fast EMA should be below the Slow EMA at the moment of the dip. That is the anatomy of a pullback rather than a full breakdown.
Macro trend context (optional)
When Enable Trend Filter is on, the Trend EMA must be rising and price must be above it. The logic prefers “micro weakness inside macro strength” which is the highest probability pattern for buying dips.
Signal formation
A valid dip requires:
• dip% > threshold
• volume spike true
• volatility spike true
• close below fast EMA
• fast EMA below slow EMA
If the trend filter is enabled, a rising trend EMA with price above it is also required. When all true, the triangle prints, the background tints, and optional entry lines are drawn.
Scoring and visuals
Binary checks into a continuous score
Each component contributes to a score between 0 and 1. The script then rescales to a centered range (−50 to +50).
• Low or negative scores imply “overheated” conditions and are shaded toward red.
• High positive scores imply “ripe for a dip buy” conditions and are shaded toward green.
• The gradient meter repeats the same logic, with a pointer so you can read the state quickly.
Bar coloring
If you enable “Color Bars by Score,” each candle inherits the gradient. This makes sequences obvious. Red clusters warn you not to buy. White means neutral. Increasing green suggests the pullback is maturing.
EMAs and the trend EMA
• Fast EMA turns down relative to the slow EMA inside the pullback.
• Trend EMA stays rising and above price once the dip exhausts, which is your cue to focus on long setups rather than bottom fishing in downtrends.
Entry lines
When a fresh signal fires and no other signal happened within Min Gap (bars) , the indicator draws a horizontal level for Line Length bars. Use these lines for limit entries at the low, at the close, or at the defined dip-percent level. This keeps your plan consistent across instruments.
Alerts and what they mean
• Market Overheated : Score is deeply negative. Do not chase. Wait for green.
• Close To A Dip : Score has reached a healthy level but the full signal did not trigger yet. Prepare orders.
• Dip Confirmed : First bar of a fresh validated dip. This is the most direct entry alert.
• Dip Active : The dip condition remains valid. You can scale in on re-tests.
• Dip Fading : Score crosses below 0.5 from above. Momentum of the setup is fading. Tighten stops or take partials.
• Trend Blocked Signal : All dip conditions passed but the trend filter is offside. Either reduce risk or skip, depending on your plan.
How to trade with Dip Hunter
Classic pullback in uptrend
Turn on the trend filter.
Watch for a Dip Confirmed alert with green triangle.
Use the entry line at “Dip % Level” to stage a limit order. This keeps your entries consistent across assets and timeframes.
Initial stop under the signal bar’s low or under the next lower EMA band.
First target at prior swing high, second target at a multiple of risk.
If you use partials, trail the remainder under the fast EMA once price reclaims it.
Aggressive intraday scalps
Lower Dip % and Lookback Bars so you catch shallow flags.
Keep Vol Spike meaningful so you only trade when participation appears.
Take quick partials when price reclaims the fast EMA, then exit on Dip Fading if momentum stalls.
Counter-trend probes
Disable the trend filter if you intentionally hunt reflex bounces in downtrends.
Require strong volume and volatility confirmation.
Use smaller size and faster targets. The meter should move quickly from red toward white and then green. If it does not, step aside.
Risk management templates
Stops
• Conservative: below the entry line minus a small buffer or below the signal bar’s low.
• Structural: below the slow EMA if you aim for swing continuation.
• Time stop: if price does not reclaim the fast EMA within N bars, exit.
Position sizing
Use the distance between the entry line and your structural stop to size consistently. The script’s entry lines make this distance obvious.
Scaling
• Scale at the entry line first touch.
• Add only if the meter stays green and price reclaims the fast EMA.
• Stop adding on a Dip Fading alert.
Tuning guide by market and timeframe
Equities daily
• Dip %: 1.5 to 3.0
• Lookback Bars: 5 to 10
• Vol Spike: 1.5 to 2.5
• Volatility Len: 14 to 20
• Trend EMA: 100 or 200
• Keep trend filter on for a cleaner list.
Futures and FX intraday
• Dip %: 0.4 to 1.2
• Lookback Bars: 3 to 7
• Vol Spike: 1.8 to 3.0

• Use Min Gap to avoid clusters during news.

• Dip %: 3.0 to 6.0 for majors on higher timeframes, lower on 15m to 1h

Reading the chart at a glance
• Green triangle below the bar: a validated dip.
• Light green background: the current bar meets the full condition.
• Bar gradient: red is overheated, white is neutral, green is dip-friendly.
• EMAs: fast below slow during the pullback, then reclaim fast EMA on the bounce for quality continuation.
• Trend EMA: a rising spine when the filter is on.
• Entry line: a fixed level to anchor orders and risk.
• Meter pointer: right side toward “Dip” means conditions are maturing.
Why this combination reduces false positives
Any single criterion will trigger too often. Dip Hunter demands a dip off a recent high plus a volume surge plus a volatility expansion plus corrective EMA structure. Optional trend alignment pushes odds further in your favor. The score and meter visualize how many of these boxes you are actually ticking, which is more reliable than a binary dot.
Limitations and practical tips
• Thin or illiquid symbols can spoof volume spikes. Use larger Vol Lookback or raise Vol Spike .
• Sideways markets will show frequent small dips. Increase Dip % or keep the trend filter on.
• News candles can blow through entry lines. Widen stops or skip around known events.
• If you see many back-to-back triangles, raise Min Gap to keep only the best setups.

Volume FlaresVolume Flares – Spotting Abnormal Volume by Time of Day
Most volume tools compare current volume to a moving average of the last X bars. That’s fine for seeing short-term changes, but it ignores how volume naturally ebbs and flows throughout the day.
Volume at 9:35 is not the same as volume at 1:15.
A standard MA will treat them the same.
What Volume Flares does differently:
Breaks the day into exact time slots (based on your chosen timeframe).
Calculates the historical average volume for each slot across past sessions.
Compares the current bar’s volume only to its own slot’s historical average.
Marks when current volume is significantly higher than normal for that exact time of day.
Visuals:
Colored columns = historical average volume for each slot (dark = quiet, bright = busy).
Green stepline = today’s actual current volume.
Dark red background = current volume > 130% of that slot’s historical average.
Volume Behavior table = live % comparison and raw values for quick reference.
How I use it:
Red and green arrows on the price chart are manually drawn where the background turns red in the volume panel.
These often align with liquidity grabs, institutional entries, or areas where the market is “louder” than it should be for that moment in the day.
Helps filter out false urgency — high volume at the open isn’t the same as high volume in the lunch lull.
Key takeaway:
This is not a buy/sell signal.
It’s context.
It’s about spotting when the market is behaving out of character for that specific moment, and using that to read intent behind the move.

Fair Value MSThis indicator introduces rigid rules to familiar concepts to better capture and visualize Market Structure and Areas of Support and Resistance in a way that is both rule-based and reactive to market movements.
Typical "Market Structure" or "Zig-Zag" methods determine swing points based on fixed thresholds (length or percentage). While this does provide rigid structure, the results may be lagging or confusing due to the timing, since it is fixed to static parameters.
I believe the concept of Fair Value Gaps can solve this problem.
As you will notice, there are no length settings in this indicator.
> FVG Market Structure
Fair Value Gaps are a well known concept used to indicate directional intent, forming when price moves aggressively in one direction, leaving behind an imbalance between buyers and sellers. While the term FVG was popularized by ICT, the underlying concept predates them, known historically as imbalances, inefficiencies, or liquidity voids in institutional trading.
Note: For simplicity, in this indicator they'll be called FVGs.
By reading into this, we are able to clearly and rigidly define market structure simply by "looking" at the chart, using objective price events rather than subjective interpretation, or lengths.
By using FVGs to determine structure direction, the length, and speed of identification lies entirely on the market. If an FVG Down occurs immediately after a New Higher High forms, it is reasonable to assume there was a seller at that point, so the script would indicate a New Swing High.
The script is NOT stuck, waiting for a % retrace, or # bars to pass to identify it as such.
Sometimes the market is in a steady trend in a single direction and no FVGs form; therefore, no structure forms. -> Why would we try to impose structure on a clear trend?
Ultimately, the FVG Structure Method uses real reactions from the market to determine Market structure, and is not fixed to specific parameters.
As with other market structure indicators, "Market Structure Breaks" are still identifiable when price moves outside the most recent swing points.
These are helpful to indicate larger direction. In the following section you will see how these help us determine when we should start the search for an "Area of Interest (AOI)".
> Areas of Interest (AOIs)
"Area of Interest (AOI)" is a generalized term, and could refer to many types of zones you might recognize under different names. While the AOIs in this indicator are specialized in their own way, I have chosen to simply use the term "Area of Interest" because it’s more important to understand how they behave and why they exist than to focus on what they’re called.
The goal of an AOI is to point out reasonable areas where buyers or sellers may be staging, as is typical with support and resistance.
In order to reasonably identify these areas, we look for cause and effect relationships. When considering these relationships, it's easier to understand the placement of the points to define each zone.
(Buyer Examples)
Cause: Strong Buyers step in at Swing Low
Effect: Fair Value Gap Forms
Cause: Sustained Buying Pressure
Effect: Market Structure Breaks
In this example, The zone is drawn from the Swing Low, to the Bottom of the FVG closest to the swing point.
In theory, the participation at the swing point was strong and aggressive enough to create the FVG imbalance. Which then found acceptance and continued into a Market Structure Break. So with these AOIs, we are trying to locate the aggressive Buyers or Sellers which were positioned BEFORE the FVG.
These Zones are intended to act as areas to look for reactions from market participants, to judge where price may be going. When revisiting these zones, we look for a reaction or a break, to further provide us information to if the buyers or sellers are still there.
As seen in the screenshot above, The information we gain is not from the creation of these zones, but from the behavior we witness when these zones are revisited.
Technical Note: In this indicator, Market Structure Breaks are only considered when price closes outside the recent swing points. Wicks are not considered as confirmation, therefore are not used to detect structural breaks.
Inside each AOI you can optionally display a readout of the volume which accumulated during the time starting at the swing point and going until the closing bar of the FVG.
Note: We are counting volume until the closing bar of the FVG since the FVG is a 3 bar formation, and aggressive volume is required throughout to create the imbalance.
There are multiple FVGs that typically occur in a single direction, but we do not look to every single one to be indicative of structure, only the first FVG in the opposite direction of the previous direction (which is determined by previous FVGs)
You will probably notice, the AOIs do not form from the closest swing or FVG to the break, this is because we are targeting larger directional changes to draw these AOIs from.
Since they do not always happen perfectly every time, the AOI formation waits for an FVG to occur AND a Market structure break to happen. One without the other will result in no Zone displaying.
> Reflection Lines
While they may seem slightly redundant, Reflection Lines serve as reminders of previous support and resistance pivots. They are drawn at the same Pivots where and AOI is formed, and extend beyond the mitigation of the AOI.
These lines are often points of price to look for "Support Flips", a re-test pattern where price trades through previous support (or resistance) then returns to it and rejects, continuing into a larger move or trend.
Their namesake is based on the behavior of price, "reflecting" at these levels.
The Reflection lines are simple and change color based on price's location.
If price is above, we would typically look to a reflection line in with support in mind.
As a basic filter, these lines use an average price to determine their color, this way they will not change their color as frequently in choppy situations.
> Session Start/End Lines
For analysis purposes and trade review, it is helpful to analyze with context.
For that reason, I have implemented start and end session lines into the indicator, these are helpful when reviewing historical charts to not provide additional context.
By default, they are set to the NYSE Session, but can be changed to fit any needs.
These lines are not advanced, and simply draw a line as the chart passes the start and end of the sessions. It's very likely that you may need to adjust the session for your specific needs.
Note: The Timezone can be adjusted within the code if needed. By Default, the indicator uses "America/New_York" Timezone.
> Conclusion
If you’ve ever felt like your structure tools were confusing or lagging, drawing zones too late, or zones that simply don't make sense, this should feel like a breath of fresh air.
By removing arbitrary length settings and instead using FVGs to define structure and as a basis for AOIs, you're getting a more accurate look at what price is doing and where it's reacting from.
This indicator is rule-based, reactive, and aims to keep things logical without fluff or false confidence.
