Hold an ounce of gold in your hand. What is a reasonable price for that chunk of precious metal?
$100?
$500?
$1000?
$2000?
Divorcing yourself from most market influences for a moment -- what do you think that coin is worth?
What's a nice suit cost these days? $1000? $500? $5000? I'm thinking that -- to me -- an ounce of gold would be worth about $800-$900 bucks. If I pick up an ounce gold coin, twirl it in my hand, heft it, flip it, yeah, about eight or nine hundred dollars feels about right. Any more and I'd be ashamed to sell it. Any less and I'd feel cheated.
