Opening RangeThe opening range or first 30 minutes of trading during the day sets the tone and becomes an important reference through the rest of the day. Price will react as it reaches the high and low of the opening range.
Backtesting has shown that the strategies based on the opening range have merit and provide an edge in trading. By not being aware of these points of reference you put yourself at risk.
In addition to the opening range, the distance from the high or low of the opening range plus the width of the opening range forms another important reference point.
Opening Range Rules.
Price must break out of the opening range in order to have a trending day. As long as price is inside the opening range, expect the trade to be choppy.
Once price leaves the opening range the market can begin to trend. However, before it trends most times it will retest the boundary of the opening range. This is a critical point, and a better than average entry for a position to join the trend. However, if price closes back inside the opening range watch out. Re-entry to the opening range has a high probability of going to the middle of the opening range, and a better than average probability of crossing the entire opening range.
In the above chart we can see price broke below the opening range then returned to retest the opening range before beginning a downward trend that delivered 175 pts on NQ.
Upon re-entering the opening range price tried to break down again but ultimately traveled up until it hit the 50% mark of the opening range.
Once a trend has begun the first target is the green line which is 1 width of the opening range outside of the opening range.
Once price broke out of the opening range to the upside, it came back to retest the opening range high, before beginning an uptrend that delivered 120 pts on NQ.
The Opening Range / First Bar By Market Mindset - Zero To EndlesThe script shows the opening range of the instrument based on different resolutions and timeframes.
Inputs :
1. Resolution
It decides the calculation frequency of the script.
In Auto resolution, Standard values have been used.
2. Timeframe
It decides the timeframe for the OHLC values.
By default, it will use the chart timeframe and so chart OHLC values.
3. Lookback
It decides the no. of ranges shown on the chart.
Middle Line can be hidden from the settings.
The script can be used for any instrument and on any timeframe.
If price is above the opening range or the middle line, a trader should look for long opportunities.
If price is below the opening range or the middle line, a trader should look for short opportunities.
A sideways or choppy move is exoected if Middle line is crossed again and again.
For trading, wait for atleast 1st bar to close. and let the opening range build up first.
Happy Trading
ICT Opening Lines [MK]Plots horizontal lines for the following opening times:
00:00 open
08:30 open
09:30 open
13:30 open
Opening lines can be used to monitor for power of 3/judas swings as per ICT teachings. The script allows the user to set a maximum timeframe for displaying the lines to keep HTF charts clean. Also an option is available to hide the lines after the market closes. If the hide option is used, the lines will be removed at 23:00.
Removing the lines after market closes ensures that the charts are clean when the market opens.
Labels can be displayed, colors and line styles can be customised.
Zazzamira 50-25-25 Trend System Alerts OnlyPublishing my trading system script. It consist of several conditions to happen in order to open a trade. Work best on ES/MES 5 minute timeframe.
I like to use it with this settings:
- UTC -6 (don't tick Exchange Timezone)
and rest as default
To enter a trade, the following conditions must be met: Entry 1: the opening range (8:30AM - 9:15AM UTC-6) must be defined and the price must close above or below the opening range on the 5-minute timeframe. This entry condition defines the trade direction (above = long / below = short). Once the opening range is defined, the Trend-Based Fib Extension is applied from the range high to the range low (and vice versa). Fib levels are required for Exit conditions. Entry 2: the 8 - 27 - 67 - 97 EMAs must be defined. If the EMAs value order is 8 > 27 > 67 > 97, long-only trades are allowed. If the EMAs value order is 8 < 27 < 67 < 97, short-only trades are allowed. This entry condition filters fake breakouts of Entry 1. Entry 3: no trades are allowed after 12:59 UTC-6 (2PM EST). Entry 4: if Entry 1, Entry 2, and Entry 3 conditions are valid and the price hasn't reached the 23.6% Fib line, an entry order can be set at the range high/long with 4 contracts. To exit a trade, the following conditions must be met: Exit 1 (Stop loss): set a trailing stop based on 2.1x ATR (14) from entry. Exit 2: take 50% profits at the 23.6% Fib and leave trailing stop untouched. Exit 3: if Exit 2 triggers, take 50% (25% of total entry) off at 61.8% Fib, leaving Exit 2 trailing stop values valid. Exit 4: exit the full position at the FIB 100% value. Exit 5: all trades must be closed at 3pm UTC-6 (4PM EST). So basically Take Profit are 50%-25%-25% of position.

Day Trading Booster by DGTTiming when day trading can be everything
In Stock markets typically more volatility (or price activity) occurs at market opening and closings
When it comes to Forex (foreign exchange market), the world’s most traded market, unlike other financial markets, there is no centralized marketplace, currencies trade over the counter in whatever market is open at that time, where time becomes of more importance and key to get better trading opportunities. There are four major forex trading sessions, which are Sydney , Tokyo , London and New York sessions
Forex market is traded 24 hours a day, 5 days a week across by banks, institutions and individual traders worldwide, but that doesn’t mean it’s always active the entire day. It may be very difficult time trying to make money when the market doesn’t move at all. The busiest times with highest trading volume occurs during the overlap of the London and New York trading sessions, because U.S. dollar (USD) and the Euro (EUR) are the two most popular currencies traded. Typically most of the trading activity for a specific currency pair will occur when the trading sessions of the individual currencies overlap. For example, Australian Dollar (AUD) and Japanese Yen (JPY) will experience a higher trading volume when both Sydney and Tokyo sessions are open
There is one influence that impacts Forex matkets and should not be forgotten : the release of the significant news and reports. When a major announcement is made regarding economic data, currency can lose or gain value within a matter of seconds
Cryptocurrency markets on the other hand remain open 24/7, even during public holidays
Until 2021, the Asian impact was so significant in Cryptocurrency markets but recent reasearch reports shows that those patterns have changed and the correlation with the U.S. trading hours is becoming a clear evolving trend.
Unlike any other market Crypto doesn’t rest on weekends, there’s a drop-off in participation and yet algorithmic trading bots and market makers (or liquidity providers) can create a high volume of activity. Never trust the weekend’ is a good thing to remind yourself
One more factor that needs to be taken into accout is Blockchain transaction fees, which are responsive to network congestion and can change dramatically from one hour to the next
In general, Cryptocurrency markets are highly volatile, which means that the price of a coin can change dramatically over a short time period in either direction
The Bottom Line
The more traders trading, the higher the trading volume, and the more active the market. The more active the market, the higher the liquidity (availability of counterparties at any given time to exit or enter a trade), hence the tighter the spreads (the difference between ask and bid price) and the less slippage (the difference between the expected fill price and the actual fill price) - in a nutshell, yield to many good trading opportunities and better order execution (a process of filling the requested buy or sell order)
The best time to trade is when the market is the most active and therefore has the largest trading volume, trading all day long will not only deplete a trader's reserves quickly, but it can burn out even the most persistent trader. Knowing when the markets are more active will give traders peace of mind, that opportunities are not slipping away when they take their eyes off the markets or need to get a few hours of sleep
What does the Day Trading Booster do?
Day Trading Booster is designed ;
- to assist in determining market peak times, the times where better trading opportunities may arise
- to assist in determining the probable trading opportunities
- to help traders create their own strategies. An example strategy of when to trade or not is presented below
For Forex markets specifically includes
- Opening channel of Asian session, Europien session or both
- Opening price, opening range (5m or 15m) and day (session) range of the major trading center sessions, including Frankfurt
- A tabular view of the major forex markets oppening/closing hours, with a countdown timer
- A graphical presentation of typically traded volume and various forext markets oppening/clossing events (not only the major markets but many other around the world)
For All type of markets Day Trading Booster plots
- Day (Session) Open, 5m, 15m or 1h Opening Range
- Day (Session) Referance Levels, based on Average True Range (ATR) or Previous Day (Session) Range (PH - PL)
- Week and Month Open
Day Trading Booster also includes some of the day trader's preffered indicaotrs, such as ;
- VWAP - A custom interpretaion of VWAP is presented here with Auto, Interactive and Manual anchoring options.
- Pivot High/Low detection - Another custom interpretation of Pivot Points High Low indicator.
- A Moving Average with option to choose among SMA, EMA, WMA and HMA
An example strategy - Channel Bearkout Strategy
When day trading a trader usually monitors/analyzes lower timeframe charts and from time to time may loose insight of what really happens on the market from higher time porspective. Do not to forget to look at the larger time frame (than the one chosen to trade with) which gives the bigger picture of market price movements and thus helps to clearly define the trend

TCI (TimeZonesIndicator)Problem & Trading Relevance
When people and especially investors and traders wake up, they will very likely check the crypto markets if they are invested. Thus higher volatility can be expected during this time. Also during the opening hours of the stock exchanges higher volatility can be expected.
For people who are checking their crypto portfolio on a daily base and be following the charts, this indicator highlights maybe the most important times of the day.
Implementation
Wake up times are considered as 0700-0900. Stock Exchange hours are considered to be 0900-1000. The daylight saving times are automaticly considered.
Personal comment
Thanks to the community for supporting with so many free to use indicators :D I hope some of you will find it also really helpfull and thus very easy to use and understand.

Michigandolf's 30min Opening Range (w/Extensions)See previous version for explanation of the 30min Opening Range:
This new version is for users that prefer to see the Opening Range Extensions.
The extensions are based on the distance from the Opening Range High to the Mid Point (or Low to the Mid Point).

but also more than suitable for Crypto or other instruments.
This indicator highlights the chosen session, which can be Globex, Asian, London and New York.
It plots the important levels and also renders the Opening Range as it forms (a.k.a. Initial Balance).

All Opening Ranges on chart and for the New York session the Range Projections are turned on:
s3.tradingview.com
How to use (example):
If you are trading the Nasdaq Futures (NQ!)
Enable the Globex Overnight session. Basically in the Futures Market, the Globex session is everything outside of US trading hours of Stocks. This draws the important overnight levels, like the Low, 25%, 50%, 75% and the High.
Enable the New York Session with Levels and Opening Range. Generally, 70% of the time the 1st hour will put a Low or High of the day.
If the price is trading above the Globex Low, most likely the Low of the Day is formed and the price target for the day will be 1.5x Standard Deviation and 2x Standard Deviation.
[*} Deviation of the Initial Balance depends on the volume ad overall market structure.
** This is not financial advice or any guarantee **
Features:

Option to toggle display of drawings for Today's trading session only, or Show all recent session levels. This keeps the chart clean or not.
Extras:
The NY Opening Range also has a 50% level line
The NY Opening Bar can be highlighted separately
The Level Lines can have small labels turned on/off. Values are only shown on mouse over to keep a clean chart
Keep in mind:
1) This indicator works on all instruments, but on instruments with limited market hours, your chart setting
has to be set to "Extended Hours" otherwise. For example TSLA on NASDAQ.
2) The Exchange Time Zone for the CME Group is Chicago UTC-6. So the session times you configure in the settings menu are based on that timezone too.
3) Globex opens at 5pm CST and closes when the US session starts 8:30CST.
4) When enabling the Alerts in the Indicator settings, be sure to also create an alarm for this indicator using the Alarm function of Tradingview.

Michigandolf's 30min Opening RangeThis script plots the 30min Opening Range as well as the previous day's high & low.
Description:
Blue Line = Top of the 30min Opening Range for the session
Pink Line = Bottom of the 30min Opening Range for the session
White Line = Mid-Point of the 30min Opening Range for the session
White Transparent Area = The full range of the 30min Opening Range
Green Line = Yesterday's High for the session
Red Line = Yesterday's Low for the session
Use:
The Opening Range will continue to expand until the first 30minutes of trading has passed, at which point the range will lock in place for the remainder of the trading session. Many traders use these important levels to gauge trade entries and exits (e.g. Mark Fisher's ACD strategy).
This script does not work currently work for futures (e.g. ES, NQ, RTY) due to the session start time. Will configure for futures trading in a future update.
ORB - Opening Range BreakoutThis script plots the high/low of any custom session and extends it until the daily close. It does not show on the timeframe higher than the length of custom opening session by default.
The time period of opening range & the max timeframe to display it on can be adjusted from the settings.
So for eg. if want to use 5m ORB to trade, then set "ORB total time" as 5min & "Session Time" as whatever is the opening 5mins time period of ticker that are trading.

GS_Opening-Range-V1ORB Opening Range Breakout 5 and 3O Minute Indicator
Kudos to Chris Moody for the inspiration to create my first indicator.
The 5 and 30 run together at times but the scalp would be when the equity breaks the 5 go long or short for the scalp and when it breaks the 30 go for the swing trade.
Open Close Daily LineThis will place circles on your chart for the opening daily price. If price is above, the circles are green. If price is below, the circles are red. I wanted to be able to see the opening price a bit easier while in smaller time frames.
I decided to add the previous daily closing line to the original script. Basically looking for good support / resistance
