Opening Range with Breakouts & Targets [LuxAlgo]Opening Range with Breakouts & Targets is based on the long-standing Opening Range Breakout strategy popularized by traders such as Toby Crabel and Mark Fisher.
This indicator measures and displays the price range created from the first period within a new trading session, along with price breakouts from that range and targets associated with the range width.
🔶 USAGE
The Opening Range (OR) can be a powerful tool for making a clear distinction between ranging and trending trading days. Using a rigid structure for drawing a range, provides a consistent basis to make judgments and comparisons that will better assist the user in determining a hypothesis for the day's price action.
NOTE: During a suspected "Range Day", the Opening Range can be used for reversion strategies, typically targeting the opposite extreme of the range or the mean of the range. However, more commonly the Opening Range is used for breakouts on suspected "Trend Days", targeting further upward or downward market movement.
The common Opening Range Breakout Strategy (ORB) outlines a structure to enter and exit positions based on rigid points determined by the Opening Range. This methodology can be adjusted based on markets or trading styles.
Determine Opening Range High & Low: These are the high and low price within a chosen period of time after the market opens. This can be customized to the user's trading style and preference. Common Ranges are from 5-60 mins.
Watch for a Breakout with Volume: A Breakout occurs when price crosses the OR High (ORH) or OR Low (ORL), an increase in volume is typically desired when witnessing these breakouts to confirm a stronger movement.
Manage Risk: Based on user preference and the appropriately determined amount of risk, multiple ways can be determined to manage risk by using Opening Range.
For Example: A stop-loss could be set at OR Mean (ORM) or the opposite side of the range, while a profit target could optionally be set at the first price target generated by the script.
Alternatively, a user might want to use a Moving Average (MA) as an adaptive stop-loss and use price targets to scale out. These are just 2 examples of the possible options, both capable with this tool.
🔹 Signals
Signals will fire based on the break of the opening range, this is indicated by arrows above and below the range boundaries.
Optionally, a bias can be added to these signals to aid in mitigating false signals by using a directional filter based on the current day's OR relative to the previous day's OR.
Regardless of the signal bias being enabled, the Opening Range Zone will always be colored directionally according to this.
If the current day's OR is above the previous day's OR, the Zone will be Green.
If the current day's OR is below the previous day's OR, the Zone will be Red.
By enabling the signal bias, signals in the opposite direction of the daily bias will fire on the cross of the first target in that direction.
🔹 Targets
In this indicator, targets are not limited and will generate infinitely based on a % width of the Opening Range.
Additionally, there are 2 display methods for these targets.
Extended: Extends the targets to the current bar and displays all targets that have been crossed so far within the session.
Adaptive: Extends only the 2 closest targets surrounding price, allowing for a display consisting of fewer lines at one time.
🔶 DETAILS
🔹 Historical Display
This indicator can be utilized in multiple ways, for use in real-time, and for historical analysis to form methods. Because of this, the indicator has an option to display only the current day's data or the entire historical data. This can also help clean up the chart when it is in use.
🔹 Time Period
The specific time period to create the opening range is entirely up to each user's preference, by default it is set to 30 mins; however, this time period can be edited with full control if desired.
Simply toggle on the "Custom Range" and input a range of time to create the range.
🔹 Session Moving Average
The Session Moving Average is a common Moving Average, which resets at the beginning of a new session. This allows for an unbiased MA that was created entirely from the current session's price action.
Note: The start of the session is determined by the start of the Opening Range if using a custom range of time.
🔶 SETTINGS
Show Historical Data: Choose to display only the current session's data or the full history of data.
Opening Range Time Period: Select the time period to form the opening range from. This operates on Session Start, so it will change with the chart.
Custom Range: Opt for a custom Range by enabling this and inputting your range times as well as your needed timezone.
Breakout Signal Bias: Select if the Breakout Signals will use a Daily Directional Bias for firing.
Target % of Range: Sets the % of the Range width that will be used as an increment for the Targets to display in.
Target Cross Source: Choose to use the Close price or High/Low price as the crossing level for Target displays. When this source crosses a target it will generate more targets.
Target Display: Choose which style of display to use for targets.
Session Moving Average: Optionally enable a Moving average of your choice that resets at the beginning of each session (start of opening range).

Hourly Ranges [QuantVue]The "Hourly Ranges" indicator is designed to track and visualize the price ranges for each hour of the trading day. It calculates the difference between the high and low prices, as well as the differences between the high and open, and the open and low prices for each hourly candle. This data is stored and used to draw range lines on the chart.
This indicator is particularly useful for traders who want to monitor how price behaves during specific hours, identify potential support and resistance levels, and make trading decisions based on historical hourly price data.
Traders can use the hourly ranges to gauge market volatility and set expectations for price movement within each hour. The drawn levels on the chart represent the average high (resistance) and low (support) price ranges for each hour. These levels can serve as potential entry or exit points for trades, offering clear markers for setting stop-loss or take-profit orders.
By observing how price interacts with these hourly levels, traders can confirm trends or spot reversals. For example, if the price repeatedly touches and bounces off a specific hourly support level, it could indicate strong buying interest at that level.
The average range calculation gives traders a sense of the typical price movement during specific hours. This helps in assessing whether the market is more volatile during certain periods, which can be crucial for adjusting trading strategies and position sizing.
This indicator is particularly useful for traders who want to monitor how price behaves during specific hours, identify potential support and resistance levels, and make trading decisions based on historical hourly price data.
Negroni Opening Range StrategyStrategy Summary:
This tool can be used to help identify breakouts from a range during a time-zone of your choosing. It plots a pre-market range, an opening range, it also includes moving average levels that can be used as confluence, as well as plotting previous day SESSION highs and lows.
There are several options on how you wish to close out the trades, all described in more detail below.
Back-testing Inputs:
You define your timezone.
You define how many trades to open on any given day.
You decide to go: long only, short only, or long & short (CAREFUL: "Long & Short" can open trades that effectively closes-out existing ones, for better AND worse!)
You define between which times the strategy will open trades.
You define when it closes any open trades (preventing overnight trades, or leaving trades open into US data times!!).
This hopefully helps make back-testing reflect YOUR trading hours.
NOTE: Renko or Heikin-Ashi charts
For ALL strategies, don’t use Renko or Heikin-Ashi charts unless you know EXACTLY the implications.
Specific to my strategy, using a renko chart can make this 85-90% profitable (I wish it was!!) Although they can be useful, renko charts don’t always capture real wicks, so the renko chart may show your trade up-only but your broker (who is not using renko!!) will have likely stopped you out on a wick somewhere along the line.
NOTE: TradingView ‘Deep backtesting’
For ALL strategies, be cynical of all backtesting (e.g. repainting issues etc) as well as ‘Deep backtesting’ results.
Specific to this strategy, the default settings here SHOULD BE OK, but unfortunately at the time of writing, we can’t see on the chart what exactly ‘deep backtesting’ is calculating. In the past I have noted a number of trades that were not closed at the end of the day, despite my ‘end of day’ trade closing being enabled, so there were big winners and losers that would not have materialized otherwise. As I say, this seems ok at these settings but just always be cynical!!
Opening Range Inputs
You define a pre-market range (example: 08:00 - 09:00).
You define an opening range (example: 09:00 - 09:30).
The strategy will give an update at the close of the opening range to let you know if the opening range has broken out the pre-market range (OR Breakout), or if it has remained inside (OR Inside). The label appears at the end of the opening range NOT at the bar that ‘broke-out’.
This is just a visual cue for you, it has no bearing on what the strategy will do.
The strategy default will trade off the pre-market range, but you can untick this if you prefer to trade off the opening range.
Opening Trades:
Strategy goes long when the bar (CLOSE) crosses-over the ‘pre-market’ high (not the ‘opening range’ high); and the time is within your trading session, and you have not maxed out your number of trades for the day!
Strategy goes short when the bar (CLOSE) crosses-under the ‘pre-market’ low (not the ‘opening range low); and the time is within your trading session, and you have not maxed out your number of trades for the day!
Remember, you can untick this if you prefer to trade off the opening range instead.
NOTES:
Using momentum indicators can help (RSI and MACD): especially to trade range plays in failed breakouts, when momentum shifts… but the strategy won’t do this for you!
Using an anchored vwap at the session open can also provide nice confluence, as well as take-profit levels at the upper/lower of 3x standard deviation.
CLOSING TRADES:
You have 6 take-profit (TP) options:
1) Full TP: uses ATR Multiplier - Full TP at the ATR parameters as defined in inputs.
2) Take Partial profits: ATR Multiplier - Takes partial profits based on parameters as defined in inputs (i.e close 40% of original trade at TP1, close another 40% of original trade at TP2, then the remainder at Full TP as set in option 1.).
3) Full TP: Trailing Stop - Applies a Trailing Stop at the number of points, as defined in inputs.
4) Full TP: MA cross - Takes profit when price crosses ‘Trend MA’ as defined in inputs.
5) Scalp: Points - closes at a set number of points, as defined in inputs.
6) Full TP: PMKT Multiplier - places a SL at opposite pre-market Hi/Low (we go long at a break-out of the pre-market high, 50% would place a SL at the pre-market range mid-point; 100% would place a SL at the pre-market low)'. This takes profit at the input set in option 1).
ICT opening price lineShows you the opening price of a certain time of day. I will show as line starting from the time selected and ending a few bars into the future. Available times are the ones ICT said are relevant for framing a premium and discount using opening prices: 00:00, 8:30 and 13:30. To show all 3 you have to add the indicator 3 times.
The script offers some customization on how the line should look line and if you want a label telling the time of it after the line.
Timely Opening Range Breakout Strategy [TORB] (Zeiierman)█ Overview
The Timely Opening Range Breakout (TORB) indicator builds upon the classic Open Range Breakout (ORB) concept. The ORB strategy is a popular trading setup used to identify trades around the opening range of an asset. It's based on the idea that the first few minutes (15-60 minutes) of trading often set the tone for the rest of the day, with breakouts above or below the opening range signifying potential trends.
TORB refines the concept by stating that a trade is only valid if there is sufficient market activity. This means a breakout beyond the upper or lower range is only of interest during the most active trading hours, as defined by PMMV (Per-Minute Mean Volume)
█ How It Works
ORB
The indicator works by first defining a session's opening range based on user-specified settings, including the session's start and end times and the applicable time zone. During this session, it calculates the high and low price points, which form the basis for identifying potential breakout levels.
PMMV
PMMV (Per-Minute Mean Volume) provides a snapshot of the market's activity level at each minute of the trading day. PMMV is calculated by averaging the trading volume in a one-minute interval over a specified number of trading days. This script uses the average volume over the last N periods to determine the PMMV value. This average volume provides a smoother representation of volume activity compared to using a single volume value. It considers the volume over a broader timeframe, filtering out short-term fluctuations and potentially offering a more reliable indicator of underlying market activity.
TORB
TORB works by integrating the Opening Range Breakout (ORB) highs and lows with the Per-Minute Mean Volume (PMMV) metric to assess the validity of breakouts. The objective is to identify breakouts from the opening high and low levels during periods of heightened market activity, as indicated by PMMV.
█ How to Use
To effectively utilize the Timely Opening Range Breakout (TORB) strategy, follow these steps:
Identify Active Hours: Employ PMMV to pinpoint periods of peak activity within the trading day.
Apply Basic ORB Rules: If the price surpasses the upper range (resistance), buy; if it breaches the lower range (support), sell.
Breakouts
The TORB strategy identifies breakout signals when the price moves beyond the established range, supported by volume exceeding a set threshold. This technique aims to eliminate false signals, focusing on price movements during high market activity.
█ Settings
Session
Trading Session: Customize the trading session's start and end times.
Volume
Volume analysis is integral to the TORB strategy, as it uses volume data to confirm the strength and validity of breakout signals.
Period: Sets the number of periods (or bars) to calculate the average volume, which is then used to assess market activity level.
Sensitivity and Significance: Adjusts how responsive the volume analysis is to changes in trading volume. By adjusting the sensitivity, traders can decide how much emphasis to place on volume spikes, potentially reducing false breakouts and focusing on those supported by significant trading activity.
Breakout Threshold
This setting establishes a criterion to identify when the price movement is significant enough.
Threshold: Traders set a threshold level to identify high market activity. If the PMMV is greater than or equal to this threshold, it indicates significant market activity.
Setting the correct threshold is key to balancing sensitivity and specificity. Too low of a threshold may lead to many false positives, while too high of a threshold might filter out potentially profitable breakouts. This setting helps in pinpointing when market activity indicates a strong move, thereby aligning trade entries with moments of heightened market momentum.

ORB Algo | Flux Charts💎 GENERAL OVERVIEW
Introducing our new ORB Algo indicator! ORB stands for "Opening Range Breakout" which is a common trading strategy. The indicator can analyze the market trend in the current session and give "Buy / Sell", "Take Profit" and "Stop Loss" signals. For more information about the analyzing process of the indicator, you can read "How Does It Work ?" section of the description.
Features of the new ORB Algo indicator :
Buy & Sell Signals
Up To 3 Take Profit Signals
Stop-Loss Signals
Alerts for Buy / Sell, Take-Profit and Stop-Loss
Customizable Algoritm
Session Dashboard
Backtesting Dashboard
📌 HOW DOES IT WORK ?
This indicator works best in 1-minute timeframe. The idea is that the trend of the current session can be forecasted by analyzing the market for a while after the session starts. However, each market has it's own dynamics and the algorithm will need fine-tuning to get the best performance possible. So, we've implemented a "Backtesting Dashboard" that shows the past performance of the algorithm in the current ticker with your current settings. Always keep in mind that past performance does not guarantee future results.
Here are the steps of the algorithm explained briefly :
1. The algorithm follows and analyzes the first 30 minutes (can be adjusted) of the session.
2. Then, algorithm checks for breakouts of the opening range's high or low.
3. If a breakout happens in a bullish or a bearish direction, the algorithm will now check for retests of the breakout. Depending on the sensitivity setting, there must be 0 / 1 / 2 / 3 failed retests for the breakout to be considered as reliable.
4. If the breakout is reliable, the algorithm will give an entry signal.
5. After the position entry, algorithm will now wait for Take-Profit or Stop-Loss zones and signal if any of them occur.
If you wonder how does the indicator find Take-Profit & Stop-Loss zones, you can check the "Settings" section of the description.
🚩UNIQUENESS
While there are indicators that show the opening range of the session, they come short with features like indicating breakouts, entries, and Take-Profit & Stop-Loss zones. We are also aware of that different stock markets have different dynamics, and tuning the algorithm for different markets is really important for better results, so we decided to make the algorithm fully customizable. Besides all that, our indicator contains a detailed backtesting dashboard, so you can see past performance of the algorithm in the current ticker. While past performance does not yield any guarantee for future results, we believe that a backtesting dashboard is necessary for tuning the algorithm. Another strength of this indicator is that there are multiple options for detection of Take-Profit and Stop-Loss zones, which the trader can select one of their liking.
⚙️SETTINGS
Keep in mind that best chart timeframe for this indicator to work is the 1-minute timeframe.
TP = Take-Profit
SL = Stop-Loss
EMA = Exponential Moving Average
OR = Opening Range
ATR = Average True Range
1. Algorithm
ORB Timeframe -> This setting determines the timeframe that the algorithm will analyze the market after a new session begins before giving any signals. It's important to experiment with this setting and find the best option that suits the current ticker for the best performance. More volatile stocks will often require this setting to be larger, while more stabilized stocks may have this setting shorter.
Sensitivity -> This setting determines how much failed retests are needed to take a position entry. Higher senstivity means that less retests are needed to consider the breakout as reliable. If you think that the current ticker makes strong movements in a bullish & bearish direction after a breakout, you should set this setting higher. If you think the opposite, meaning that the ticker does not decide the trend right after a breakout, this setting show be lower.
(High = 0 Retests, Medium = 1 Retest, Low = 2 Retests, Lowest = 3 Retests)
Breakout Condition -> The condition for the algorithm to detect breakouts.
Close = Bar needs to close higher than the OR High Line in a bullish breakout, or lower than the OR Low Line in a bearish breakout. EMA = The EMA of the bar must be higher / lower than OR Lines instead of the close price.
TP Method -> The method for the algorithm to use when determining TP zones.
Dynamic = This TP method essentially tries to find the bar that price starts declining the current trend and going to the other direction, and puts a TP zone there. To achieve this, it uses an EMA line, and when the close price of a bar crosses the EMA line, It's a TP spot.
ATR = In this TP method, instead of a dynamic approach the TP zones are pre-determined using the ATR of the entry bar. This option is generally for traders who just want to know their TP spots beforehand while trading. Selecting this option will also show TP zones at the ORB Dashboard.
"Dynamic" option generally performs better, while the "ATR" method is safer to use.
EMA Length -> This setting determines the length of the EMA line used in "Dynamic TP method" and "EMA Breakout Condition". This is completely up to the trader's choice, though the default option should generally perform well. You might want to experiment with this setting and find the optimal length for the current ticker.
Stop-Loss -> Algorithm will place the Stop-Loss zone using setting.
Safer = The SL zone will be placed closer to the OR High for a bullish entry, and closer to the OR Low for a bearish entry.
Balanced = The SL zone will be placed in the center of OR High & OR Low
Risky = The SL zone will be placed closer to the OR Low for a bullish entry, and closer to the OR High for a bearish entry.
Adaptive SL -> This option only takes effect if the first TP zone is hit.
Enabled = After the 1st TP zone is hit, the SL zone will be moved to the entry price, essentially making the position risk-free.
Disabled = The SL zone will never change.
2. ORB Dashboard
ORB Dashboard shows the information about the current session.
3. ORB Backtesting
ORB Backtesting Dashboard allows you to see past performance of the algorithm in the current ticker with current settings.
Total amount of days that can be backtested depends on your TV subscription.
Backtesting Exit Ratios -> You can select how much of percent your entry will be closed at any TP zone while backtesting. For example, %90, %5, %5 means that %90 of the position will be closed at the first TP zone, %5 of it will be closed at the 2nd TP zone, and %5 of it will be closed at the last TP zone.
Opening Range Gaps [TFO]This indicator displays Opening Range Gaps with an adjustable time window. Its intention is to capture the discrepancy between the close price of previous and new Real Trading Hours (RTH) sessions, i.e. yesterday's close compared to today's open. A gap will be drawn from this area with a solid line denoting its midpoint, and dashed lines denoting the upper and lower quartiles of its range. Its color is determined by whether the new session open price is above or below the previous session close.
The Gap Session parameter allows users to define the specific time window for which to capture the "gap" in price. Using U.S. index futures as an example, we can use 16:00 - 09:30 (EST) to capture the discrepancy between the previous day's close price and the current day's open price. However, this parameter is left as adjustable for users that may want to observe different markets or simply experiment with different time windows.
Show Session Delineations will draw vertical timestamps denoting the start and end times of the provided Gap Session. Track Start Price serves as a visual aid to track the initial price of the Gap Session until its end price is validated, for easy visual verification of a gap's upper and lower bounds. With both options turned off, the indicator will only display the gap boxes and lines, as shown here:
Extend Boxes will draw all gaps with an indefinite extension to the right. This can get messy with a large number of boxes, which is why we have a Keep Last parameter to limit how many sessions' drawings should be stored. Any drawings that were made beyond this number of sessions in the past will automatically be deleted.
The Timeframe Limit will dictate that the indicator as a whole will only draw objects on timeframes less than or equal to this timeframe, determined by the user. In some cases this may help users avoid resolution errors which may arise from using timeframes that are too large for a given session. For example, if a user wanted to track a Gap Session of 16:15-09:30, the Timeframe Limit should be set to 15 minutes because the close price at 16:15 cannot be observed on a 30 minute chart (or greater).
itradesize /\ Model x RTH Gap
I’m happy to announce my model and sharing it with you as an indicator.
About the model
The model is based on a range from 18:00 until 1:30. If you are keen you probably know that it's something that based on a bit of Daye's Theory. As Daily Q4 is from 18:00 until 0:00 and I've added a 90's Q1 to it as well that's why it ended up at 1:30.
It's an accumulation range and where we are looking for some opportunities above or below it when the algo is trying to fake the traders as the high and the low of the range are both important zones for liquidity pools. This model works on almost every pair but I've been mostly focusing on indices, especially on ES, NQ, and EUR/USD.
Do not trade before 1:30 AM and do not trade this model after 6:00 AM. So any tradable setup must be valid until 6:00 AM.
*All the mentioned times are based on America/NewYork timezone.
A simple sell setup
∆ If it takes the high of the model, then look for short opportunities.
∆ The best reliable scenario is when a high is taken while retracing back to an HTF PD Array so it will end up in a failure swing, Judas swing, you name it.
∆ When a high is taken you should wait for a market structure shift then it should give a nice displacement where it should retrace.
∆ The imbalance after the shift can be on every timeframe, based on your trade idea.
∆ If there are more imbalances, your decision on which to go with (as if there is a BPR, Breaker, OB, etc.. - can change the view of an FVG).
The same story goes for a buy setup.
∆ The first target is always the EQ of the model's range.
∆ The second target could be liquidity inside the EQ and the other side of the model (optional).
∆ The third target is the other side of the model.
∆ You can always leave a runner there if you eyeing some levels outside the model.
Additional information
∆ You can use silver bullet range as an extra confirmation when you looking for the actual displacement.
∆ An RTH range is also added to the indicator (starts drawing at 9:30 when the futures market opens) as it can be used to trade in the NY session and it is a must-have thing when trading indices.
∆ The colors of every label are switched automatically based on your chart's coloring.
The Opening Range / First Bar By Market Mindset - Zero To EndlesThe script shows the opening range of the instrument based on different resolutions and timeframes.
Inputs :
1. Resolution
It decides the calculation frequency of the script.
In Auto resolution, Standard values have been used.
2. Timeframe
It decides the timeframe for the OHLC values.
By default, it will use the chart timeframe and so chart OHLC values.
3. Lookback
It decides the no. of ranges shown on the chart.
Middle Line can be hidden from the settings.
The script can be used for any instrument and on any timeframe.
If price is above the opening range or the middle line, a trader should look for long opportunities.
If price is below the opening range or the middle line, a trader should look for short opportunities.
A sideways or choppy move is exoected if Middle line is crossed again and again.
For trading, wait for atleast 1st bar to close. and let the opening range build up first.
Happy Trading
RD Opening Range/Initial BalanceIntroducing the RD Opening Range/Initial Balance indicator. The opening range is the first 60 minutes of trading action for a given day (High, Mid, and Low).
The market tends to put significance in these levels, that's why we use them in our trade system.
There is also a data panel:
Today - Today's opening range value
W-Avg - This weeks average
20D CA-OH - the total number of closes above the opening range over the last 20 days (above high)
20D CA-OL - the total number of closes below the opening range over the last 20 days (below low)
* We do plan to add additional data points.
* Only the last OR has labels, we will not be adding them or an option in the future.
* Full customization in setting panel. Color of lines, background, no display of data panel and more.
How to Use
These levels act as dual magnets. They both attract price and repel price.
You use price action and rules to decipher if price is being attracted or repelled.
You will notice as you use this indicator that price respects these levels. Often when answering the 3Qs one of these levels is in play.
During the cash market these levels play a significant role in price action. Even during the Globex/Overnight session these levels are a factor.
Circle areas are examples of price reactions at OR key levels:
If you trade with the RDTS you already know how to use these levels as reaction and target zones.
For clues on which level price is being repelled or attracted I'd suggest you utilize bias and momentum indicators like the RDA.
Initial Balance vs Opening Range
Before we move on and discuss how to use this indicator I want to mention what I consider the difference between the Opening Range and the Initial Balance.
I've adopted the Opening Range verbiage for the first 60 minutes of trading even though the Opening Range is often defined as the first 15m or first 30m.
The more accurate term for the first 60m should be Initial Balance. I'm not sure exactly where this originated but I learned this term when I was heavily trading TPO-- the IB is the first 2 30m blocks of trading.
Any questions or improvements just comment below.
This script was created in by both Bhangerang (an Alpha member of the RDTS) with help by @RexDogActual as well as permission to publish.
NSDT Custom High and Low LinesFirst, the credit for the original script to plot a High and Low between a certain time goes to developer paaax.
I took that idea, converted it to Pinescript V5, cleaned up the code, and added a few more lines so you can plot different levels based on time of day.
Published open source like the original.
The example shown has:
Blue - plotting from the start of the Futures Asian session to the start of the Futures USA Session. (6:00PM - 9:30AM Eastern)
Yellow - plotting from the start of the Futures Europe session to the start of the Futures USA Session. (3:00AM - 9:30AM Eastern)
Green - plotting from the start of the Futures US Premarket session to the start of the Futures USA Session. (8:00AM - 9:30AM Eastern)
These are great levels to use for breakouts and/or support and resistance.
Combine these levels with the 5 min Open Range levels, as you have some good trades.
Each of the three sessions have individual start and end times that can be modified by the trader, so you can easily mark off important areas for your style of trading.
Initial Balance |ASE|Introduction
Initial Balance (IB) refers to the price data that is formed during the first hour of a trading session. It is an important concept in trading as it provides insights into the market's opening sentiment and potential trading opportunities or reversals for the day. There are multiple trading sessions throughout the day. The most popular, the NY Session, is open from 9:30 am to 4:00pm EST making the Initial Balance(IB) range the first hour (9:30-10:30) The other sessions include London, Tokyo, and Sydney.
IB Customization
The Initial Balance lines are fully customizable to fit the traders need.
Show Initial Balance
This setting will plot the Initial Balance
Fill/Extend IB Range
The Fill IB Range toggle fills the area in between the IB High and IB Low. Use the IB Fill Color option to change the fill color in the “Line Settings” group on the settings panel.
The Extend IB Range extends the IB lines until the market closes.

The Show 1x Extension toggle displays 1 times the IB range line (IB High - IB Low) above IB High and 1 times the IB range line below IB Low.
The Show 2x Extension toggle displays the 2 times the IB range line (IB High - IB Low) above IB High and 2 times the IB range line below IB Low.
*Use the Extension Level Color in the “Line Settings” to change the color of the lines.
Show Middle Levels
The Show Middle Levels toggle shows all the 50% lines between the upper 2x and upper 1x line, upper 1x and IB high, IB high and IB low, IB low and lower 1x line, and the lower 1x and lower 2x line.
*Use the Mid Level Color in the “Line Settings” to change the color of the lines.
Delete Previous Day’s Levels
This setting will only show the current day's Initial Balance and delete all previous day levels to produce a clean chart.
How To Use:
The Initial Balance Range can support a bias as it shows the opening market sentiment. By watching price action interact with the Initial Balance Range we can watch for indications of trending or failing moves at the high or the low and overall a ranging or trending session.
The extension levels are projections as to where price could potentially reach in a trending market. If we are bullish and trending higher, we would want to see price reach the first extension, signs of strength at these levels can be used as confirmation to target other levels.
Overall, all these levels can and should be used as support and resistance levels, and as always, can not be used by themselves and require additional confirmation, whether that be an indicator or price action. Below you can see chart examples of these levels in action.
Opening Hour/Closing Hour Indices Statistics: high/low times; 5mVery specific indicator designed for 5min timeframe, to show the statistical timings of the highs and lows of Opening hour (9:30-10am) and Closing hour (3pm-4pm) NY time
~~Shown here on SPX 5min chart. Works all variants of the US indices. SPX and SPY typically show more days of history (non-extended session =>> more bars).
//Purpose:
-To get statistics on the timings of the high and low of the opening hour and the high & low of the closing hour.
//Design & Limitations:
- Designed for the 5minute chart ONLY . Need a sweet spot of 'bucket' size for the statistics: to allow meaningful comparison between times.
-Will also display on 1min chart but NOT the statistics panel, only the realtime data (today's opening hour/ closing hour timings).
-Can be slow to load depending on server load at the time. This is becasue of the multiple usage of looping array functions. Please be patient when loading or changing settings.
//User inputs:
-Standard formatting options: highlight color, table text color. Toggle on/off independently
-Decimal % percision (default = 0, i.e. 23%. If set to 1 => 22.8%)
-Show statistics: Show Opening hour statistics, Show Closing hour statistics
//Notes:
-Days of history shown at top of table; this is the size of the dataset. i.e. 254 here (254 trading days) =>> 254 opening hour highs, 254 closing hour lows etc.
--to illustrate with the above: 18% of those 254 closing hour highs occured on the 15:00 5min candle (i.e. between 15:00 and 15:05).
-SPY or SPX offer the largest history/dataset (circa 254 trading days).
-Note that the final timing in each hour is 10:25am and 15:55pm respectively: this is because the 10:25am 5min candle essentially ends at 10:30am =>> we properly captures the opening hour this way
-Pro+ users will get less data history than Premium users (half as much, due to 10k vs 20k bars history limit).
Opening Range with FibsThe indicator uses a time range and another instrument for time reference, so that it works in the time zone you care about. I have set the default to SPX500USD since it is in EST ( SPX , ES and many futures are on Chicago time and opening range gets confused). You can change the reference instrument in the settings.
You can also change the multipliers and use other values instead of 1.272 and 1.618 for Fib extensions.
TradingView has a limit as to how many objects an indicator can create so if you want to go back further for visual backtesting - use the replay tool - it will be able to draw up to the time you selected within its limits.
Let me know if you need anything else...
Happy Trading!
30 Second Futures Session Open RangeThis indicator displays 30 second opening ranges from Globex, Europe, and RTH sessions.
From the RTH session range, it also displays infinitely generating Price Targets based on a % of the opening range size.
I am retrieving the 30 second data using the new "request.security_lower_tf()" function.
The importance of these levels is based on the idea that when the market opens, algorithms establish their positions within the first 30 seconds.
These areas can also be seen as potential areas of support and resistance throughout the sessions.
Enjoy!
PATIThis indicator is part of our educational suite focused on teaching price structure, momentum, and mean reversion trading strategies for intraday trading. Our team has selected this set of tools and metrics, which define our trading style and serve as the foundation for our teaching, to be included in this indicator. We are displaying each component in a way we believe is helpful to their understanding which also provides a clean, comprehensive look.
This indicator is for Intraday Trading
Our Traders most commonly use this indicator on the 1,3 or 5 minute chart.
Components of this Indicator:
Multiple VWAP Levels: monthly, weekly, standard (anchored to the right of price)
Dynamically Anchored VWAP Cloud (trend tool)
13 EMA (trend tool)
Structural Orderblocks
Multi-Timeframe Fair Value Gap detection
Key Daily Price Levels (anchored to the right of price)
Customizable Opening Range (anchored to the right of price)
15 minute “Golden Zone” (shows the .5-.618 zone of the previous 15m candle)
ADR (Average Daily Range)
A4R (Average 4hr Range)
These tools are used in conjunction with the education we provide to help our users determine their optimal trade plan to utilize their edge.
Specific Functionalities and Uses:
Monthly-VWAP & Weekly-VWAP (M-VWAP/W-VWAP):
VWAP = “Volume Weighted Average Price”
These levels provide probable zones where price may mean revert and risk should be taken off/ put on. We have anchored these to the right-hand side of your chart by default to minimize the noise on your chart.
Average Daily Range (ADR): The Average Daily Range is a technical indicator used to measure the volatility of an asset. It displays how much an instrument can move on average during a given day. The significance is that each market has a unique range that is likely to be covered on any given day.
Average 4hr Range (A4R): The Average 4hr Range is a technical indicator used to measure the volatility of an asset twice in a single session. It displays how much an instrument can move on average during a session and is measured twice in a day. Calculating a smaller volatility range may seem strange at first but can be a huge advantage by analyzing the volatility of the intraday action, giving you average price targets based on more recent market data.
Tip: When used in conjunction with key support and resistance levels, ADR & A4R can be a huge edge to traders to determine where to push/pull risk.
Opening Range: The open often establishes the trend and sentiment for the day, but there is also statistical significance to the open that is overlooked. Statistically, on average, the open is near the high or low of the day and offers plenty of opportunities to build trading strategies. The chart below provides some potential trades that could be taken once the opening range has been established.
Dynamically Anchored VWAP Cloud: Our dynamically anchored VWAP cloud tracks the most recent impulsive move and re-anchors to show you potential bounce points in a trend. We re-anchor at each structural shift to give the most probable targets for buyers/sellers to defend their positions to continue the current trend push.
By utilizing the re-anchoring at each significant structural inflection point, we can establish a much less lagging trend following technique.
We have also included the feature to substitute this cloud for a 34/55 EMA cloud for the traders already familiar with that system.
The chart below provides potential trades that could be taken using the VWAP cloud system.
FVGS (Fair Value Gaps/ Imbalances): These areas represent potential buy/sell side liquidity imbalances where price is pushed aggressively, sweeping the orderbook and will likely return to “fix” the structure before continuing. Below is an example of 3 possible trade paths we look for inside these structural imbalances.
Structural Orderblocks:
These areas are based on structural pivots that have been pushed out of with aggression determined by subsequent structural breaks to confirm their validity. Because of this, when price returns to these areas we can anticipate this area to be defended.
The blue boxes track Orderblocks. These highlight instances of past participation which create areas likely to be defended again when retested.
Swing High/Low/Previous:
We use swing high and lows as points of short-term support and resistance, a break of these levels can signify a shift in market sentiment.
-The dashed green line shows the previous structural swing high or low pivot point.
-The solid green lines show the high and low in our current trading structure.
Note: Displaying the previous swing can provide us with context of the current market trend, and will assist us make better decisions.
15 Minute Golden Zone:
Displayed as a gray box, it tracks the .5-.618 of the previous 15m candle and gives us an area where we look for short-term resistance/support on smaller time frame price action. This area can be viewed as an equilibrium of the current range. If the price can hold this area, it can show a likely support area for continuation.
13 EMA:
This is the choice length ema of our traders, they use this ema to confirm (short-term) trend direction and reference it for a common bounce point for re-entries. Our traders consider this as a crucial point to speculate reversals and break of short-term trends.
Note: Typically in a trend we see the price hold to one side of this ema, by looking for this characteristic, it brings confidence to staying in trades.

Day Trading Booster by DGTTiming when day trading can be everything
In Stock markets typically more volatility (or price activity) occurs at market opening and closings
When it comes to Forex (foreign exchange market), the world’s most traded market, unlike other financial markets, there is no centralized marketplace, currencies trade over the counter in whatever market is open at that time, where time becomes of more importance and key to get better trading opportunities. There are four major forex trading sessions, which are Sydney , Tokyo , London and New York sessions
Forex market is traded 24 hours a day, 5 days a week across by banks, institutions and individual traders worldwide, but that doesn’t mean it’s always active the entire day. It may be very difficult time trying to make money when the market doesn’t move at all. The busiest times with highest trading volume occurs during the overlap of the London and New York trading sessions, because U.S. dollar (USD) and the Euro (EUR) are the two most popular currencies traded. Typically most of the trading activity for a specific currency pair will occur when the trading sessions of the individual currencies overlap. For example, Australian Dollar (AUD) and Japanese Yen (JPY) will experience a higher trading volume when both Sydney and Tokyo sessions are open
There is one influence that impacts Forex matkets and should not be forgotten : the release of the significant news and reports. When a major announcement is made regarding economic data, currency can lose or gain value within a matter of seconds
Cryptocurrency markets on the other hand remain open 24/7, even during public holidays
Until 2021, the Asian impact was so significant in Cryptocurrency markets but recent reasearch reports shows that those patterns have changed and the correlation with the U.S. trading hours is becoming a clear evolving trend.
Unlike any other market Crypto doesn’t rest on weekends, there’s a drop-off in participation and yet algorithmic trading bots and market makers (or liquidity providers) can create a high volume of activity. Never trust the weekend’ is a good thing to remind yourself
One more factor that needs to be taken into accout is Blockchain transaction fees, which are responsive to network congestion and can change dramatically from one hour to the next
In general, Cryptocurrency markets are highly volatile, which means that the price of a coin can change dramatically over a short time period in either direction
The Bottom Line
The more traders trading, the higher the trading volume, and the more active the market. The more active the market, the higher the liquidity (availability of counterparties at any given time to exit or enter a trade), hence the tighter the spreads (the difference between ask and bid price) and the less slippage (the difference between the expected fill price and the actual fill price) - in a nutshell, yield to many good trading opportunities and better order execution (a process of filling the requested buy or sell order)
The best time to trade is when the market is the most active and therefore has the largest trading volume, trading all day long will not only deplete a trader's reserves quickly, but it can burn out even the most persistent trader. Knowing when the markets are more active will give traders peace of mind, that opportunities are not slipping away when they take their eyes off the markets or need to get a few hours of sleep
What does the Day Trading Booster do?
Day Trading Booster is designed ;
- to assist in determining market peak times, the times where better trading opportunities may arise
- to assist in determining the probable trading opportunities
- to help traders create their own strategies. An example strategy of when to trade or not is presented below
For Forex markets specifically includes
- Opening channel of Asian session, Europien session or both
- Opening price, opening range (5m or 15m) and day (session) range of the major trading center sessions, including Frankfurt
- A tabular view of the major forex markets oppening/closing hours, with a countdown timer
- A graphical presentation of typically traded volume and various forext markets oppening/clossing events (not only the major markets but many other around the world)
For All type of markets Day Trading Booster plots
- Day (Session) Open, 5m, 15m or 1h Opening Range
- Day (Session) Referance Levels, based on Average True Range (ATR) or Previous Day (Session) Range (PH - PL)
- Week and Month Open
Day Trading Booster also includes some of the day trader's preffered indicaotrs, such as ;
- VWAP - A custom interpretaion of VWAP is presented here with Auto, Interactive and Manual anchoring options.
- Pivot High/Low detection - Another custom interpretation of Pivot Points High Low indicator.
- A Moving Average with option to choose among SMA, EMA, WMA and HMA
An example strategy - Channel Bearkout Strategy
When day trading a trader usually monitors/analyzes lower timeframe charts and from time to time may loose insight of what really happens on the market from higher time porspective. Do not to forget to look at the larger time frame (than the one chosen to trade with) which gives the bigger picture of market price movements and thus helps to clearly define the trend

Opening Range, Initial Balance, Opening PriceThis script draws Opening Range, Initial Balance and Opening Price with options to show mid levels.
By default, lines changes color depending on whether closing price is above or below the lines. Red if price is below, green if price is above.
Colors and line styles are all configurable.
Options to change label positions.
Some definitions:
Opening Range - The opening range is high and low for a given period after the market opens. This period is generally the first 30 or 60 minutes of trading
Initial Balance - WRT to TPO profile chart, the Initial Balance is the price range resulting from the market’s trade during the first two 30 minute periods of the regular trading hours session.
Why is this useful?
The first hour of the trading day is the most active and dynamic period. The price range defined by this period of trading creates some key support / resistance levels for the rest of the day. Example below:
Opening Range with Infinite Price TargetsOpening Range with Infinite Price Targets is an ORB indicator that automatically generates price targets into infinity based on a user-defined % of range.
This indicator includes many nice-to-have features missing from other indicators. Such as:

Alerts for Range Breaks, First Range Breaks, and Discovery Price Target hits. As well as Exported Values for Range High, Low, and Mean to set your own alerts from custom sources.
Custom Price Targets, set your price targets to a % of the range based on your own strategy.
Last but not Least, Infinitely Generating Price Targets. They just keep building. New Targets will be generated when the price closes above/below the current farthest target.
Enjoy!

iBox, Initial Balance | IB High, Low, Midpoint | OpeningThis Indicator will print basically 4 lines.
You have to understand the importance of the "Initial Balance" the first trading hour of Cash session is very important in trading stocks and indizes.
So you will get 4 lines:
Opening
Initial Balance High
Initial Balance Low
Initial Balance Midpoint/Halfback
Most indicators for Range Box, Opening Trade, Opening Range, Initial Balance, iBOX and "Ultimate Lines" will only use the timezone of the exchange or your own timezone. I'm living in europe and we have this daylight saving time change in Summer/Winter - which will cause problems with most of the existing indicators or at least will push you to change the times regularly.
Another important point: I really like to switch the indizes when trading on my mobile. So what will happen when you set up opening range for DAX at 09:00 and then switch to S&P500? All indicators I tried failed here - they will just draw a wrong line for SPX, NDX, DJI, FTSE, ASX etc. I fixed that and hard coded stock exchanges and ticker symbols into 3 main groups Initial Balance EU/US/Asia
For example we take DAX - XETRA DAX is opening at 09:00 MEZ (Europe/Berlin)
The Initial Balance is set during the H1 Candle from 09:00 - 09:59
Please be aware, that some cash indizes only deliver data to TradingView after the "opening auction" - so for Xetra DAX you have to book live data and often you will only see data at 09:02/09:03 after the opening auction.
So you will get different opening lines compared from cash to future or your CFD provider. Future and CFD should fit for 99%
The Opening Line will be drawn at exactly 09:00
IB High on the highest price during the H1 candle
IB Low on the lowest price during the H1 candle
IB Halfback is simple: (IB High + IB Low) / 2
The lines will be drawn from cash start until next day and will end 2 minutes before the next cash session will start again. Please make your own experience! Activate the indicator for a CFD or Future switch to M15 and watch the wicks around the 4 lines. Even in the night or the next morning before the next Initial Balance will be set.
For me the lines are valid for around 24 hours and often longer. That's why it's good to have the old lines on the chart too.
To-do:
Yesterday high / low / close / halfback (also for last week and month)
Labels for the lines - sometimes only the colors will confuse you - a simple label should be a benefit (IB_h, IB_l, IB_1/2, 1D_o)
Range Lines for Asia Range and Premarket Range - additionaly a parameter to disable premarket lines when premarket is trading in asia range.
Add Alert condition to get alerts after IB is set
If you have and thoughts, ideas or improvements, please send me an message or leave an comment!
Like i said, the stock exchanges and ticker symbols are hard coded and can be extended for all relevant assets.
Have fun and i really hope this indicator will help improving your trading experience!
