the "adaptive boundary v3" is a comprehensive, multi-functional technical indicator designed to be overlaid on the main price chart. it combines several popular analysis tools into one, providing a unified view of trend, momentum, and volatility. its core components include a primary moving average with angle-based coloring, an optional secondary moving average for crossover signals, dynamic volatility bands (either atr or bollinger bands), and an rsi filter that adaptively colors the bands to signal overbought or oversold conditions.
how to use the indicator
moving averages and trend analysis
the indicator plots a primary, short-term moving average (ma). you can choose its type (sma, ema, wma) and period. this ma serves as the central line for the entire indicator.
you can enable a secondary, long-term moving average. when the short-term ma crosses above the long-term ma, a green triangle appears below the price, suggesting a potential uptrend (a golden cross). when it crosses below, a red triangle appears above the price, suggesting a potential downtrend (a death cross).
moving average angle coloring
to provide an at-a-glance view of momentum, the color of the primary ma line changes based on its angle or slope.
aqua: the ma is rising, indicating upward momentum.
fuchsia: the ma is falling, indicating downward momentum.
yellow: the ma is flat, indicating a lack of momentum or a ranging market.
volatility bands
the indicator can display volatility bands around the primary moving average. you can choose between "atr bands" or "bollinger bands". you can also disable them.
these bands expand and contract based on market volatility, providing a visual guide to potential support and resistance levels or price extremes.
adaptive rsi filter and band coloring
this is a key feature of the indicator. the color of the filled area between the bands is typically gray.
however, when the rsi filter is enabled, the band color will change to highlight potential market exhaustion.
red fill: this appears when the rsi is in the overbought zone and the price has moved above the upper band. it signals a potentially over-extended upward move that might be due for a pullback or reversal.
lime green fill: this appears when the rsi is in the oversold zone and the price has moved below the lower band. it signals a potentially over-extended downward move that might be due for a bounce or reversal.
diamond signals
to provide more precise entry signals, the indicator can plot small diamond shapes.
