Daily 4XSetUps - The DTE Bulls Are Bursting With Strength

With the increase to €32.57, the Deutsche Telekom share DTE reached a new 10-year high at the beginning of this week, on Monday, February 3rd, 2025 - thus setting the previous high of the price on January 31st, 2025. The Deutsche Telekom share DTE has been in a long-term upward trend since April 22, 2024 and has gained +53.54% in value during this period. The distance to the 200-day line is currently +24.29%. A safe haven - especially in these times when Trump seems to be serious about his tariffs. As already experienced on the Monday in question.

The analysts at JPMorgan seem to be almost euphoric about the price action of DTE . They reiterated an overweight rating and a price target of an incredible €43. This is despite the shares already having returned an impressive 27.74% over the last 6 months - reflecting strong market confidence in this telecommunications giant with a market capitalization of $164.34 billion. I assume that the bank is so euphoric due to the robust results of T-Mobile US (TMUS) in the fourth quarter. Because the mother DTE has a stake in the US subsidiary TMUS . TMUS US's impressive quarterly figures showed record growth rates with increases of 7% in revenue, 10% in EBITDA and an outstanding 54% in earnings per share year-on-year. Additionally, the 2025 outlook exceeded expectations for mobile customer additions and cash flow, easing concerns about a possible slowdown in momentum.

The DTE stock is on the way up - no question about it! But that shouldn't blind us, let alone ignore the view downwards. That's why the important price actions are still the same - like in 2024, if you remember. Because if the bears get a taste for taking it - to make money in this stock - and win back the above-mentioned price action (above €30) - we could see a price action of down to €27 again, even more deeper, during next year 2025. From this pov (point of view) don't get too euphoric - even the chart is looking very good. Too good, if you ask me. However, our last long DTE 4XSetUp has fully worked out, thanks to the company's good quarterly figures. And that's why we still pay attention to this price action zone.

Personally, I can subjectly easily imagine that DTE shares will rise by +20% in 2025 - which would then be €36 and/or more. Because the fundamental numbers are outstanding! However, the steep and rapid rise of the share price definitely scares me. But as already mentioned: “The trend is your friend until it breaks!”, which is why we place the stop price at €27.00. Because I can much more imagine that around the turn of the year 2024/25, many will (not) reorganize their portfolio assets. And the DTE share can therefore rise under pressure? But it doesn't have to! Which is why I still pay a lot of attention to the previous price action zones. Because a fall down to €30.00, for example in the first quarter of 2025, would be entirely bearable in the historical context - in my opinion, even conceivable. Before the share then marches towards €36.00. Although I would of course prefer a direct route towards €36! But I don't think this probability is any greater - hence this extremely relatively bearish comment. Which is why I'm leaving the price target at €33.00 for now. Because should we achieve it? We can always get long again!
