I think the markets are pricing that the US-China Phase 1 deal is going to be signed, so the risk-off sentiment is still present. The idea of going short in USDJPY is based on a well-known phrase: buy the rumor, sell the fact (news).
Are we going to see the price going down? Who knows, but it's better to be prepared, if the price breaks the support zone around 109.3 price level it's decent to join bears with stop above 109.65 and profit around 108.4
