As the b-wave gets longer (in relation to wave-a), the probabilities dropped dramatically that wavec will be longer than wave-b. An Irregular pattern must adhere to the following Rules.Maximum Limits:
1. The b-wave should not exceed 138.2% of the length of wave-a. If it does, the pattern will probably not be an Irregular, but an Irregular Failure (see next heading). In other words, wave-c will not retrace all of wave-b. If the b-wave is more than 138.2% of wave-a, the c-wave is not
likely to retrace all of wave-b; in that case the pattern will have to be called an Irregular Failure (refer to Figure 11-19)
2. The b-wave in an Irregular Correction should subdivide more than wave-a (see Figure 11-19). The b-wave will almost always be a Zigzag(or less likely, a combination of corrections), while wave a will usually be some type of Flat. The c wave must be Impulsive. If wave-c is corrective, you may be experiencing an Expanding Triangle or a Contracting Triangle with a large c-wave. This pattern can be found as: Wave: Any 2,4,ab Wave: c.de (in a Horizontal Triangle)
