The market composite index, which measures loan applications,
declined 1.2% for the week ended Aug. 19 on a seasonally adjusted
basis, narrowing from a 2.3% fall in the previous week. The index
slipped 3% without adjustments. The refinance index decreased 3%
from a week before and was 83% down from a year earlier.
